Last night marked an event that I’ve been looking forward to for months – one year, in fact. The event was Fashion’s Night Out, and while it was sad to be missing the out on the night in NYC, I was excited to be in Georgetown, an area in DC with great shopping.
For those of you who don’t know, FNO is an event that takes place the same night in cities across the world, and marks start of New York Fashion Week. It was started in 2009 by Vogue and the CFDA to boost the economy of the fashion industry, and is meant to encourage shopping through parties, live music, DJs, free cocktails and champagne, appetizers, special contests and raffles, and more.
Last year’s FNO Georgetown was greeted by crazy thunderstorms, so my friends and I ended up not going, to our dismay. This year, though we had class until 8, we were determined to make it there! We parked several blocks away and braved the cobblestone streets in our heels.
The night was great, though it would have been greater had we gotten there earlier. It’s definitely an event you want to see the beginning of. But you could feel the energy in the city, and it was overall a great night.
